Youth Art Showcase September 21 - October 12, 2019
Mills Pond Gallery knows that a child’s interaction with art sparks inspiration, creativity and imagination. Creative arts experiences help children become more flexible and inventive thinkers, providing the foundation for later success. When kids are encouraged to express themselves and take risks in creating art, they develop a sense of innovation that will be important in their adult lives.
We direct our art classes towards a creative journey rather than the result. We know that in the arts, the method by which children arrive at the destination is more significant than the destination itself. Our teachers offer guidance and encouragement as children explore colors, materials, subjects and more!
The children in this exhibition (ages 5 through 14) spent a week creating art this summer…they didn’t even know that their fine motor skills improved….that their ability to analyze and problem-solve increased…that they became a bit more self-confident…and that they learned a bit about inventing new ways of thinking!
