Andrea Tonty
After retirement as an educator, Claire Huffman and her family (including two dogs), reside in Stony Brook, NY. I am following my life-long dream of painting, painting under the name of Andrea Tonty.
While still living in New York City, I studied with Rick Brosen (watercolor), Wolf Kahn (pastel), Sam Adoquei (drawing, oil and watercolor), David Dewey and John Goodrich (watercolor).
At the National Academy of Design in New York and have participated in various professional workshops elsewhere, such as those of Pedro Cano in Italy.
My work focuses on plein air/ landscapes, still life and abstract compositions, merging traditional with experimental techniques in watercolor, oil and pastel mediums. Localities for my work, in addition to the North Shore of Long Island, include England, Scotland, Venice and Southern Italy (especially Naples and Sicily) as well as New York's Central Park. I paint primarily in watercolor, though I integrate other media such as pastel and oil.
